Bumi!!!

Bumi, as you all should know, is the King of Omashu. He is approximately 112 years old, but even if he is, he is known to kick some serious butt for his incredible earthbending. Bumi is the only person in the Avatar series to actually know Anng personally from 100 in the past; in fact, he used to be one of Anng's best friends and demonstrated to him that it is always better when you think out of the ordinary, or in Bumi's case, "You have to open your brain, to the possibilities." He first demonstrated that when he turned the Omashu mailing system into a supper slide, no seriously, who thinks of that?!?!?! King Bumi literally owns the saying, "thinking outside the box". The reason why so many people believe that King Bumi is so impressive is not the fact that he's an amazing earthbender, but the fact that he's awesome at it and he's 112 years old, you'd think a guy like him would have arthritis or something but really; he's just pure awesome though. Bumi is also known for his wisdom, patience, and often insanity.
Although Bumi was only shown in four episodes, I still believe that Bumi has played a huge part in the series for he has contributed in many ways towards the war. One thing is that many people believe that the episode, The Return to Omashu, was just a filler episode, it was definitely NOT! This episode not only showed how spectacular Bumi was, it also taught Aang some morals and basically foreshadowed what happened at the end of the series. Instead of killing the firelord, Aang tried to think a different way and realized that he didn't have to kill Ozai. King Bumi also saved all of the people of Omashu when it was being overrun by the Fire Nation; of course this would have required the slaughtering of many of his people, but instead he waited for the right moment, this way, no one would have gotten killed and the city would have been successfully reconquered. Also, he is very well known for his position in The Order of the White Louts when he reconquered Ba Sing Se with the White Louts.
One of the most common questions that almost every Avatar fan frequently asks is: Who is a better earthbender; Toph or Bumi? This question is very debatable, in fact we will be posting a section on the blogs for debates soon, but for now we will give you a little briefing of our opinions first. First of all, many people believe that Toph is a better earthbender than Bumi because Toph is the only earthbender to metal bend and this is something that Bumi can not preform. Bumi is said to be better than Toph because he is able to hurl hundreds of stones at his enemies with facial muscles; you don't see that everyday. Toph can also see her opponents and predict their movements based on the seismic energy vibrations she receives from the ground with earthbending; that is definitely one thing that Bumi can't do. Bumi is mainly credited for thinking outside the box in combat, allowing his earthbending techniques to recieve maximum effectiveness as Toph will react to the first thing she sees. They are both very similar in a way though. One way is that they are both earthbenders...a little obvious we'll admit. They were both experienced enough to teach Aang and they both wait for their enemies to make a move and then counter those attacks based on their attacks. They are both at a disadvantage though because they have a huge age difference: Toph is 12 years old, making her a bit under experienced, but Bumi is 112 years old, and although very fit, not as fit as he used to be. Another major factor is that Toph is helpless when not touching the ground or when their foes are off the ground, making her areal attacks ineffective most of the time while King Bumi has a very childish attitude and may get too cocky at times, even if he never underestimates his foes, he might slip up due to his attitude. Again, the topic is still debatable.
One other thing we would like to mention is of course what is up with Bumi. Everyone is saying that Bumi is crazy, but did you ever wounder why? At first, we though it was because of his old age, but a closer look at Bumi and Aangs' flashbacks revels that Bumi acted the same way he did as a child compared to present day. We have found that it may be because of some sort of disorder that Bumi has; it can be a mental disorder or a speaking disorder. We will not discuss what type of disorder Bumi has because we don't want to offend anyone and we don't want to sound stupid because of a horrible guess on his disorder. If anyone has any suggestions on what this might be, please comment your guess on this post; we will inform you if we come up with any logical disorder.
